Eberhard Kempf

Eberhard Kempf (born July 23, 1943 in Lahr ) is a German lawyer specializing in criminal law .

Life

After studying in Heidelberg, Berlin, Freiburg and Paris, he was admitted to the bar in Heidelberg in 1971, where he became known as a defense attorney in demonstration trials (among others by Dietrich Hildebrandt , Ralf Fücks and Helga Rosenbaum ). 1975 Eberhard Kempf ran unsuccessfully for the Communist League of West Germany for the Heidelberg municipal council. Since the move of the KBW party headquarters in 1977, he has had his office in Frankfurt am Main. In the proceedings concerning the constitutional complaints of three K groups against the non-broadcasting of their campaign programs by various television companies in 1975/76, he and Gerhard Härdle were authorized representatives of the KBW ( BVerfGE 47, 198 1978). In 1983/1984 he and his colleague Sebastian Cobler represented Frank Schwalba-Hoth , a member of the Green State Parliament , after he had splattered US General Williams with blood during a reception in the Hessian State Parliament in protest against American nuclear weapons policy.

Kempf has been a member of the Criminal Law Committee of the German Bar Association since 1990 and was its chairman from 1996 to 2005. He was also actively involved in the founding (2002) of the "International Criminal Bar" (ICB), an association of lawyers at the International Criminal Court in The Hague . He has been ICB President since 2005.

Kempf became known as the defender of Deutsche Bank boss Josef Ackermann in the Mannesmann trial . Other prominent clients were Jürgen Schneider , Nick Leeson , Klaus Croissant , Hans-Joachim Klein , Horst Weyrauch and Jürgen Möllemann . He was a defense attorney in the proceedings surrounding the corruption scandal at Infineon . In the trial of the kidnapping of Jakob von Metzler , he represented the accessory prosecution on behalf of the parents.
