Eberhard Holm Meumann (born February 12, 1942 in Dresden ) is a German educator and founder of the only private vocational high school in Berlin .

Life

Meumann's father was killed in the first days of the Russian campaign before he was born . Bombed out, he and his mother survived the bombing night of February 13-14, 1945 . In Schellerhau , both found refuge with their maternal grandmother. Meumann attended elementary school in the town in the Eastern Ore Mountains from 1948 to 1956 before graduating from the Goethe High School in Klingenthal in Vogtland in 1960.

Study and work as a teacher

After serving in the Dresden riot police , he studied history, German studies, pedagogy and psychology at the pedagogical institute "Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Wander" in his hometown from 1963 to 1967 . After the state examination, he taught at a polytechnic high school in the Upper Harz Mountains and was appointed deputy director of the multi-level high school after the first year of teaching.

Scientific activity and research management

In February 1973 Meumann graduated from the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the GDR (APW) in Berlin with a doctoral thesis on educational law. paed. after completing a scheduled post-graduate degree at the central educational research facility of the GDR in 1970.

For 15 years he was deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine “ Pädagogik ” and was responsible for the content design of the central scientific magazine in the educational field.

With a thesis on the history of education, he completed his habilitation in 1982. A year later, Meumann completed a study visit to the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the USSR in Moscow . There he dealt primarily with the life and work of Lunacharski . In 1987 he was appointed full professor for the history of pedagogy at the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of the GDR . At the beginning of 1988 Meumann took over the management of the Academy Institute for Theory and History of Education. He was chairman of the Scientific Council for General Education. This council included leading educators at universities and colleges of education as well as other central educational institutions.

Teaching activity in vocational training and further education

After the APW was wound up on December 31, 1990, which for political reasons took place without an evaluation, Meumann worked as a senior lecturer in vocational training and further education under the umbrella of the German Private Academy for Business (CDI) in Munich .

Establishing private schools

In 2004, Meumann initially founded private vocational schools at CDI with an independent educational concept that is unique in the vocational school system. After the institution went bankrupt, the classes at Campus Vocational Training Berlin were established. Under Meumann's direction, further private schools were established, in particular the only private vocational high school in the federal capital. Under the umbrella of Campus Vocational Training there are now ten state-approved substitute schools at four locations in Berlin with a total of around 1,200 students. Meumann is the Pedagogical Director of the Vocational Training Campus.
