Eberhard Munzert

Eberhard Munzert (born March 23, 1932 in Hanover ; † April 9, 2000 in Bielefeld ) was a German lawyer , administrative officer and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Munzert began studying law, which he completed with two state examinations and in 1960 with the doctorate Dr. jur. at the University of Saarbrücken . He then entered the administrative service. From 1960 to 1965 he worked as a legal advisor in Bielefeld and from 1965 to 1968 he was an alderman for legal and social affairs in Herford . From 1968 to 1973 he was first assistant for law, security and order, and from 1974 to 1978 city treasurer in Bielefeld. From 1978 to 1983 he was the City Director of Bielefeld. From 1983 to 1987 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior under Herbert Schnoor in the government of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia led by Prime Minister Johannes Rau . Munzert was President of the State Audit Office of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1987 to 1995 .

From 1988 to 1995, he volunteered as Deputy President of the North Rhine-Westphalian State Judicial Examination Office . In addition, he had been a member of the Presidium of the German Athletics Association (DLV) since 1973 , which he chaired from 1985. After Birgit Dressel's death , he did not nominate her doctor Armin Klümper for the 1988 Summer Olympics , which meant he isolated himself in the association. Shortly before the games, he resigned as DLV chairman.

He also worked as chairman of the board of directors of Von Bodelschwinghschen Anstalten Bethel .
