Eberhard Triesch

Eberhard Triesch (* 1956 ) is a German mathematician . He is a professor at RWTH Aachen .

Life

Triesch studied mathematics and economics at RWTH Aachen from 1975 to 1980, receiving funding from the German National Academic Foundation . After graduating as a qualified mathematician, he worked as a research assistant at the chair for applied mathematics, especially computer science, at RWTH Aachen University under Walter Oberschelp until 1984 . In 1984 Triesch received his doctorate from the RWTH Aachen University on the basis of his dissertation: "On the complexity of graph properties" at Oberschelp. He then worked until 1987 at the Institute for Quantum Chemistry at the Free University of Berlin as a university assistant and from 1988 as a research assistant at the Chair of Mathematics at RWTH Aachen University. From 1990 to 1992 Triesch was a substitute professor for corporate research in Aachen. In 1991 Triesch completed his habilitation with a thesis on "Search Problems in Graphs and Hypergraphs". In 1992 he became professor for operations research at the Research Institute for Discrete Mathematics at the University of Bonn . Then Triesch took over the chair II for mathematics at the RWTH Aachen. There he deals with discrete optimization , combinatorics and graph theory . He also supervises courses in higher mathematics . In addition to his university activities, Triesch is committed to teaching students mathematical facts and offers both lectures for primary school students and events for secondary school students .
