Ebrachar
Ebrachar , Latin Everacrus , French Éracle , († October 27 or 28, 971 ) was bishop of Liège from 959 until his death .
Ebrachar was a student of Rather who had been bishop in Liège from 953 to 955 (or 954 to 956) , but was soon divorced from the local episcopate due to conflicts with the Counts of Hainaut .
Ebrachar was dean of the Cassius pen in Bonn and was in 959 by the Cologne Archbishop Brun , who the Hainaut Count Reginar III. 957 had deposed, installed as bishop in Liège.
The origins of the collegiate monasteries St. Paul and St. Martin lie in his term of office . Like his sponsor Brun, Ebrachar appeared as a renewer of the schools. However, he was hated by the population and repeatedly faced riots. In 968/969 he accompanied Emperor Otto I on his train to Calabria .
Notger succeeded him in 972.
