Ebtisam Abdulaziz

Ebtisam Abdulaziz ( Arabic ابتسام عبد العزيز, DMG Ibtisām ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ; * 1975 in Sharjah , United Arab Emirates ) is an Emirati mathematician, artist and writer. She works with geometry and math to address issues of belonging and identity through installations, performance art and other media. The Wall Street Journal named her one of the seven most exciting artists in the United Arab Emirates in 2016.

life and work

Abdulaziz graduated from the United Arab Emirates University in Al Ain in 1999 with a double bachelor's degree in mathematics and science . She has also worked for Al Tashkeel magazine since 2000 and writes art reviews for other publications. Ever since she donned a black suit with light green numbers and stood on a roundabout in Sharjah, she has been an integral part of the art scene in the United Arab Emirates . She works in the field of systemic art with a multidisciplinary practice that has arisen from an academic foundation in math and science. She is a member of several associations, including the Emirates Fine Arts Society, the Dubai Youth Theater and Art Atelier.
