Eccard Freiherr von Gablenz (born January 26, 1891 in Königsberg , † December 17, 1978 in Rheinbach ) was a German officer , most recently lieutenant general in World War II .

Life

Baron von Gablenz joined the Emperor Alexander Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 1 as a flag junior and was promoted to lieutenant with a patent on August 20, 1909. He served as an officer in the First World War , including in the staff of the Chief of the General Staff of the Field Army. After the end of the war he switched to the Reichswehr as a captain, initially as a company commander in the 9th (Prussian) Infantry Regiment and also worked as a general staff officer in the Reichswehr Ministry . On January 1, 1929 he was promoted to major and took over the III. Battalion of his regiment. From December 1, 1935 to November 23, 1938 he was in command of the Paderborn Infantry Regiment, later the 18th Infantry Regiment . Promoted to major general on August 1, 1938, he was initially commander of Army Service 5 in Dresden. Promoted to Lieutenant General on August 1, 1940 during World War II, he led the 301st Infantry Division , the 32nd Infantry Division , the 7th Infantry Division , the 384th Infantry Division and the 232nd Infantry, among other things -Division , most recently the 404th division.
