Echeveria nodulosa is a species of the genus Echeveria ( Echeveria ) in the thick-leaf family(Crassulaceae).
description
Echeveria nodulosa grows strongly branched with irregularly angular shoots, which reach a length of up to 20 centimeters. The leaves, the bracts, the sepals and the petals are tiny papillos . The somewhat rosette to scattered leaves are obovate-wedge-shaped, pointed and more or less purple-red along the edges and on both sides. There may be occasional green leaves throughout. They are up to 5 inches long and about 1.5 inches wide.
The racemose inflorescence is up to 30 centimeters long. The flower stalk is up to 5 millimeters long. The widely spread sepals are sometimes suddenly turned back and have upwardly curved tips. The sharp 5-edged corolla is about 16 millimeters long. The pink petals are yellowish in color along the edges and at the tips.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 32.
Distribution and systematics
Echeveria nodulosa is widespread in Mexico . It is common in the south of Puebla and in the north of Oaxaca .
It was first described in 1869 by John Gilbert Baker as Cotyledon nodulosa . In 1873 Eduard Otto placed the species in the genus Echeveria. Synonyms of the species are Echeveria discolor De Smet , Echeveria misteca De Smet ex Morren and Echeveria sturmiana von Poelln.
