Weingartia fidaiana is a species of plant in the genus Weingartia from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet honors the German cactus lover HF Fida from Mannheim , who published the magazine Der Kakteenfreund .

Weingartia fidaiana grows individually with depressed spherical to spherical, dark green to gray-green bodies. With a diameter of 6 centimeters, these reach heights of up to 4 centimeters and have a beet root up to 30 centimeters long, sometimes branched, thick. There are about 7 to 10 ribs. The 4 to 12 thorns are rigid, curved or protruding or bundled. They are brownish to black and 1 to 5 inches long.
The yellow, ocher, reddish to red flowers are funnel-shaped and appear in the apex. They are up to 5 centimeters long and have the same diameter. The depressed spherical to spherical fruits are dark green to reddish brown, dry up leathery when ripe and tear open transversely.
Distribution and systematics
Weingartia fidaiana is distributed in southern Bolivia in the Potosí and Tarija departments and in northern Argentina in the Jujuy province at altitudes of 2600 to 4000 meters, where it grows on stony soils in the Puna vegetation.
The first description as Echinocactus fidanus was published in 1933 by Curt Backeberg . Erich Werdermann placed the species in the genus Weingartia in 1937 . Synonyms are Gymnocalycium fidaianum (Backeb.) Hutchison and Rebutia fidaiana (Backeb.) DRHunt .
