Eckart van Hooven

Eckart van Hooven (born December 11, 1925 in Hamburg ; † December 28, 2010 there ) was a German bank manager and politician.

Career

After military service and law studies, van Hooven started in 1955 at Norddeutsche Bank, one of the Deutsche Bank branches . He made it up to the board of directors, to which he was a member from 1972 to 1991. He was one of the fathers of the Eurocheque system. After leaving the Board of Management, van Hooven was a member of the bank's advisory group until 1996.

From 1974 to 1985 he was on the Presidium of the Economic Council of the CDU . In the state elections in Hamburg in November 1986, he was a member of Hartmut Perschau's government team and was appointed Senator for Economics in the event that the CDU provided the Senate. In 1994 he ran for the Bundestag .
