Eckart von Sydow
Eckart von Sydow (born September 5, 1885 in Dobberphul , Königsberg Nm district ; † July 1, 1942 in Berlin ) was a German art historian and ethnologist .
Live and act
Eckhart von Sydow was the fourth child of Hans Kurt von Sydow (1852-1904) and his wife Elfriede Margarete von Wedel (* 1856). He received his doctorate in Halle in 1912 and was director of the Kestner Society from 1923 . Between 1933 and 1942 he worked as a lecturer at the Berlin Institute for Art and Visual History at the Humboldt University in Berlin in the art history department, where Adolph Goldschmidt and Ludwig Heinrich Heydenreich also taught. Among his students were Hans Himmelträger and Werner Muensterberger . Von Sydow died in 1942. The ethnologist Martin Heydrich wrote his necrology .
