Eckhard Kutter

Eckhard Kutter (born March 28, 1939 in Braunschweig ; † June 12, 2020 in Berlin ) was a German civil engineer and transport scientist .

He studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig until 1965, specializing in road and urban construction . He then worked until 1974 at the local institute for urban planning as a research assistant and senior engineer. During this time he did his doctorate in 1972 on the demographic determinants of urban passenger transport.

In 1974 Kutter was appointed professor for integrated transport planning at the Technical University of Berlin . From 1990 to 1995 he was on leave of absence from the professorship and during this time took over the transport department at the German Institute for Economic Research in Berlin . From 1998 until his retirement in 2004, Kutter was a professor in the transport systems and logistics department at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg .

Among other things, Kutter was a member of the German Bundestag's study commission on the protection of the earth's atmosphere.

He died after a serious illness on June 12, 2020 in Berlin.
