Eckhard Heinrich Wollenweber (born November 9, 1941 in Kaiserslautern ) is a German botanist and university professor .

Life

Wollenweber studied biology and chemistry in Heidelberg from 1962 to 1968 , with a minor in pharmacology . He passed the state examination for higher education and received his doctorate in botany in 1970 on the occurrence of free flavonoids in and on plants. As a lecturer at the TU Darmstadt, he completed his habilitation in 1974 and was appointed professor in 1980. He taught plant physiology , chemistry and pharmacology of natural plant substances, plant anatomy and cryptogamics, and was primarily responsible for state examination and diploma theses.

Act

Eckhard Wollenweber remained loyal to his research focus "Excret Flavonoids" until his retirement in 2007. He was considered an expert on the dissemination, in particular of the external accumulation of flavonoid aglycones and other lipophilic natural substances on plant surfaces. Wollenweber is a member of various German and international scientific societies, was a member of the Conseil d'Administration du Groupe Polyphénols for several years and was appointed Investigador Asociado at the Museo Nacional de Costa Rica in 1976.
