Edda Seidl-Reiter (* 1940 in Vienna ) is an Austrian textile artist and painter , as well as co-founder of Intakt (international action group of female artists).

Life

Edda Seidl-Reiter attended the Vienna Textile School in Spengergasse and graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts Vienna in 1962 . In 1959 she married the sculptor Erwin Reiter , together they have two daughters (Beate and Rondine). In 1967/68 she studied art at the Slade in London. Edda Seidl-Reiter's life as an artist, especially that of women, is a major concern. That is why she was also a co-founder of Intakt, the action group for female artists, which, according to its own definition, offers space and framework for presentations of artistic works by women. She is also a co-founder of the Upper Austrian School Gallery and the Art Julbach Association . With the choice of Julbach as a secondary residence, she had to deal with the language of the Mühlviertel, and she began to collect Julbacher expressions, which she later published in "Juiwegga Dudn". Edda Seidl-Reiter lives and works in Vienna and Upper Austria.

Edda Seidl-Reiter's trademark are the twisted threads that run through all of your works. The textile expression in parlance finally led you to set up a textile card index, which you can find in your book “Alles ist Weben”. Edda Seidl-Reiter is a versatile artist whose willingness to experiment is reflected in her works. The range spans from photo embroidery (fairy tales with important or well-known personalities), the artistic processing and revision of a Bruckner fair, the use of corn leaves in pictures, the creation of jewelry and chasuble, interweaving objects (e.g. a Biedermeier gate), a network for the greening of a fire wall in the 6th district of Vienna up to its famous tapestries and pictures. “Traditional” biblical representations such as B. the stations of the cross occupy the artist. She was able to sell some works to the USA very early on. For example, two works went to the Los Angeles Times and their print shop. Other important works by the artist are in the UNO City in Vienna and at the registry office in Julbach (in the form of a wedding carpet).
