Edgar Sebastian Hasse
Edgar Sebastian Hasse (born May 12, 1960 in Zeitz ) is a German Protestant theologian , journalist and cruise chaplain.
Life
Hasse grew up as the son of a pastor in the GDR . He studied theology and then worked for the daily newspaper Die Union in Leipzig .
After the turn , he was a theological editor and correspondent in the EKD - weekly German General Sunday newspaper in Berlin . In 1992 Hasse moved to the head office of the newspaper in Hamburg . He then worked as a freelancer for Deutschlandfunk and the Protestant news agency Idea . In 1996 he became editor of the daily newspaper Die Welt in Hamburg, then of the Hamburger Abendblatt. Since 2010, the theologian has been volunteering for cruise chaplaincy, including on expedition cruises to the Antarctic.
In 2010, Hasse received his doctorate from the Theological Faculty of the University of Greifswald on Christmas in the press. Comparative analyzes of the journalistic perception of Christmas based on the Christmas editions of selected daily newspapers and magazines (1955-2005) .
Awards
- In 1998 Hasse received a prize from the John Templeton Foundation and the Conference of European Churches .
- In 2001 he received the Golden Compass of the Christian Media Association KEP .
