Edgar Sommer (born September 12, 1939 in Danzig ) is a German author and publisher.

Life

After graduating from high school, Edgar Sommer first became a photography student with Otto Steinert . He then completed his studies as a translator and interpreter for Spanish in Stuttgart. He then worked at Krupp-Polysius in Neu-Beckum as a translator and entrepreneur. With "Fenek Expeditions" he organized tours through Tunisia and the northern Sahara. In the long run, however, these were difficult to achieve because the Arab states were unwilling to cooperate with the attack at the Olympic Games in Munich. He founded the Cargo publishing house .

In 2003 he wrote a German work on this ethnic group with Kel Tamashek - The Tuareg . In 2010, Sommer was in charge of the special exhibition "The Tuareg - Water is Life" in the Klimahaus Bremerhaven .
On September 13, 2012, Sommer also gave a lecture in the Klimahaus Bremerhaven on the occasion of the “1st Africa Congress Bremerhaven” on the Sustainable green garden project in Niger . In the summary of the congress, which was held entirely in English, Akpezi Ogbuigwe from the United Nations Environment Program praised the work of Edgar Sommer and his approach on a private level. It was about the "education for sustainable development", which is achieved with the 9000 m 2 school garden.

In spring 2014, Sommer published the collection of poems Flight of the Cormorants. Poems about love with works by yourself and by Aleksandra Pristin that answer each other. In the foreword by Hans Georg Bulla it says: “A (...) stroke of luck is this book by Aleksandra Pristin and Edgar Sommer with their poems about love. It is a side-to-side conversation between two about nothing but love. And it's a gamble, because like so long no longer be read. "In the fall of that year appeared with Tango threes a narrative of the author himself as Volume II" Romantic describes series "with flight of cormorants started .
Also at the end of 2014, the publisher published the children's book Wir sind Tuareg by Sommer's wife Heike Miet-Sommer, a work on the Tuareg, his actual main topic, for the first time since 2006.
