Edgar Voges

Edgar Voges (born August 26, 1941 in Braunschweig ; † December 30, 2008 in Dortmund ) was a German professor of high frequency technology .

Professional career

After graduating from the Neue Oberschule in Braunschweig, Voges studied physics from 1961 to 1967 at the TU Braunschweig and the TU Berlin . He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for High Frequency Technology at the TU Braunschweig until 1974, where he received his doctorate in 1970. Four years later, he completed his habilitation in the field of high frequency technology in 1974.

From 1974 to 1977 Voges was professor for high frequency electronics at the University of Dortmund . Between 1977 and 1982 he held the professorship for communications engineering at the Fernuniversität in Hagen . In 1982 he returned to the University of Dortmund, where he was head of the chair for high frequency technology until 2007. In 2007 he retired .

He was also involved in academic self-administration. From 1985 to 1987 and from 2005 to 2006 he was dean of the electrical engineering department at the University of Dortmund and from 1987 to 1989 spokesman for the university lecturers' council, as well as a member of the senate from 1989 to 1993.

Voges died in December 2008 at the age of 67.
