Edgar Ziesemer

Edgar S. Ziesemer (born July 18, 1895 in Berlin ; † October 21, 1971 there ) was a German cameraman .

Life

Edgar Ziesemer received his photography training at the Technical University. In 1916 he went to Deutsche Bioscop and began working as a cameraman. Between 1918 and 1920 Ziesemer worked as a simple cameraman for May Film . From 1921 to 1924 he owned his own production company. In 1925 Ziesemer returned behind the camera.

As head cameraman, initially under the patronage of more experienced cameramen, Ziesemer now worked regularly for cinema. Until 1938 he shot a number of less important films, mostly for smaller private companies, less often for large companies like UFA . 1939–1941 he photographed several fairy tale films for the Hubert Schongers production company , from 1940 onwards Ziesemer concentrated on working on industrial and documentary films. Even after the Second World War , his main field of activity was documentary and later also television film.
