Edi Hila

Edi Hila (* 1944 in Shkodra , Qark Shkodra ) is an Albanian painter .

life and work

Edi Hila studied at the University of the Arts in Tirana until 1967 . Hila worked as a scenographer for Radio Televizioni Shqiptar . In 1972 he created the painting Planting Trees , with which he became known. A year later he went to Florence , Italy to do a professional training in scenography at a television station. Hila's work was significantly influenced by his contact with Florentine museums and Renaissance painting . In 1991, Hila accepted a professorship at the Tirana University of the Arts.

The most important series that Hila has created are Paradox (2000–2005), Relations (2002–2014), Threat (2003–2009), Roadside Objects (2007–2010), Penthouses (2013), Martyrs of the Nation Boulevard ( 2015) and A Tent on the Roof of the Car (2017).

Hila has participated in numerous exhibitions, including the Biennale di Venezia (1999), After the Wall Moderna Museet in Stockholm and Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart (1999), Müpa Budapest (2000) and documenta 14 in Kassel.
