Edith Grotkop

Edith Grotkop ( pseudonym : Edith Guetté , born October 17, 1897 in Stralsund , † November 14, 1990 ) was a German writer .

Life

Edith Grotkop was the daughter of a doctor . Due to her grandfather's veterinary activity, she developed a close relationship with animals at an early age. Since 1911 she lived with her family in Dresden . From 1928 Edith Grotkop ran her mother's pension in Sellin on Rügen . The guesthouse housed a children's home during World War II and in the post-war period .

Edith Grotkop's first books were published in the early 1950s by Hinstorff-Verlag in Rostock . After the author moved to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1953 , she published numerous books for young people from 1958 onwards . Edith Grotkop's work consists primarily of narrative animal books and books for girls , although since the 1970s she has mainly used the horse book genre .
