Edith Mühlgaszner

Edith Mühlgaszner (born December 27, 1951 in Schandorf as Edith Bencsics ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and district school inspector. Mühlgaszner was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 1991 to 1998 .

education and profession

Edith Mühlgaszner was born as the daughter of the farmer Emmerich Bencsics from Schandorf and grew up with a native Burgenland-Croatian language. She attended the elementary school in Schandorf and three classes at the secondary school in Rechnitz . She then moved to the Steinberg secondary school for a year and then graduated from the Theresianum Eisenstadt high school , where she graduated in 1970 . She then studied Slavic Studies in Serbo-Croatian and Russian at the University of Graz and graduated in 1986 with the academic degree Mag. Phil. from. Before that, she had acquired a teaching qualification for elementary schools in 1972 and for secondary schools in 1974 and worked from 1972 to 1981 as a teacher at the secondary school in Rechnitz. From 1981 to 1990 she was a teacher and director at the elementary school in Dürnbach (municipality of Schachendorf). On June 1, 1990, she was appointed district school inspector for the Croatian school system in Burgenland.

politics

Mühlgaszner joined the SPÖ in 1971 and was a committee member of the SPÖ-Schandorf from 1981. In 1987 she took over the role of SPÖ local chairwoman and from 1989 she was a councilor. In addition, in 1989 she became the executive chairwoman of the Oberwarts district and represented the SPÖ between July 18, 1991 and January 27, 1998 in the Burgenland state parliament. In addition, from 1990 to 1996 she was chairwoman of the adult education center of Burgenland Croats and from 1993 chairwoman of Volkshilfe Burgenland. Furthermore, she was a member of the ethnic group advisory board for the Croatian ethnic group.
