The Edition Libica (proper spelling: edition libica ) is an Austrian Small Press , based in Vienna.

history

The publishing house founded in May 2013 by Simone Stefanie Klein is named after the Libyan Sibylle Libica. According to tradition, she is said to be the author of the hexameter and the proverbs know yourself . The Prophetess Libica can therefore be understood as a personification of the unity of thought and poetry, with which she also represents the spirit of the publishing house. The publishing house is dedicated to the lyre , the instrument that was already a symbol of poets and thinkers in ancient Greece .

program

Since its founding, edition libca has dedicated itself to the re-edition and new edition of fiction and philosophical literature by German and foreign-language authors of the present and past eras. In doing so, the publisher wants to make ideas “that have been forgotten” accessible (again) to interested readers and, on the other hand, to stimulate the philosophical and literary discourse on the diverse alternative ways of thinking in specialist circles.

The beginning of the publishing activity was the new edition of the fables about divine and human things by Rosa Mayreder . The philosophical fairy tales for adults, which were highly regarded at the time, revolve around the central philosophical topic of self, human and worldview, a complex of questions that is currently topical again, while the new edition of the text Die Mutter by Marianne Hainisch, first published in 1913, addresses the question of the Puts the importance of women as mothers and educators up for discussion again.

Gabriele Ruf-Zoratti is now adding the dimension of philosophizing with children to the publishing program with her little owl, Denkmalnach , while the fabulous and parable-like African stories by Lingangi-Enganda Mas stimulate intercultural dialogue.

Since 2016, the author Peter Miniböck , who is now well-known and respected not only in connoisseur circles, has been publishing in edition libica.

Authors

The publisher's authors include Lingangi-Enganda Mas, Peter Miniböck , Elmar Mayer-Baldasseroni , Melitta Pernthaller, Gabriele Ruf-Zoratti and Christian Schwetz.
