The publisher Edition bi: libri is "the first [...] publisher of bilingual children's books ." It was founded in 2004 by the literary scholar Kerstin Schlieker. The publishing house is based in Munich. The publisher is a member of the German Book Trade Association .

Edition bi: libri was founded in 2004 as a publisher for bilingual children's books.

There has been a cooperation with NordSüd Verlag in Zurich since 2008 . Since then, well-known characters such as the rainbow fish , the little polar bear or the howling owl have been published in several languages at Edition bi: libri .

In addition, in 2010 a sales and marketing cooperation was concluded with Hueber Verlag , the market leader in DaF .

Kristy Koth, who also holds a doctorate in literature with an additional degree in language education, has been a publisher and manager since 2015.

Edition bi: libri's books address cross-cultural issues such as friendship, tolerance, gathering courage and overcoming fears.

The current language selection (2018) includes Arabic, English, French, Greek, Italian, Kurdish / Kurmancî , Persian / Farsi, Russian, Spanish, Tigrinya and Turkish - always in combination with German.

Most hardcover books come with a CD on which the texts were spoken in the respective languages ​​by native speakers. The audio files for the titles created in cooperation with NordSüd can be downloaded from the Internet using a code.

There are two series in the program: on the one hand the series "bilibrini - die kleine bilingual", on the other hand the series "I read bilingual!" with which important basic vocabulary is conveyed through an additional word-picture bar on each page. The first-time reading books “billis” deal with topics that are primarily intended to address children of primary school age.
