Lena Hesse

Lena Christina Hesse (* 1981 in Frankenberg an der Eder ) is a German illustrator and children's book author .

biography

After graduating from high school, Hesse began training as a media designer with a focus on print media and then studied design at the Münster University of Applied Sciences with Marcus Herrenberger and Hermann Dornhege. She also studied for a year at the Escuela de Arte y Diseño in Valencia .

Hesse illustrates books and writes picture book texts for various children's and youth book publishers such as Coppenrath Verlag , Verlagsgruppe Oetinger , Jungbrunnen , Carlsen Verlag , Ueberreuter Verlag , Aracari and Edition bi: libri . In addition, she designs board games for various game publishers, among others. a. Zoch Verlag , Noris-Spiele and Piatnik .

She lives in Berlin .

Other projects

  • Fred and Anabel was performed as a puppet theater piece in the Schauspielhaus Bochum from 2011 to 2018 . Directed by Martina van Kasten . Since 2018 it has been performed by the newly founded Junge Bühne Bochum with the same cast.
  • Fred and Anabel as cartoon, 2014. Directed by Ralf Kukula .
  • The books A Box of Nothing , The Little Miracle and Was Special were translated into German sign language by the Deaf Association of Munich and Surrounding Area eV (GMU) and are freely available as animated picture books in sign language on YouTube.
