Ralf Kukula

Ralf Kukula (born May 21, 1962 in Dresden ) is a German filmmaker and director.

Life

In addition to his Abitur, Ralf Kukula took an evening course in painting and graphics at the Dresden University of Fine Arts . From 1981 he worked in the DEFA studio for animated films . In 1984 he began studying at the Konrad Wolf Academy of Film and Television in Babelsberg , which he graduated in 1987 as an animator . From 1991 to 1998 he worked as a freelance filmmaker. In 1990 he was one of the founders of the Saxony Film Association and was its chairman for ten years. In 1993 he was involved in founding the German Institute for Animated Film . From 1993 to 2002 he acted as a reviewer and assessor at the Filmbewertungsstelle Wiesbaden .

In 1999, he and Grit Wißkirchen founded Balance Film GmbH (including Die Sandmanzen ) in Dresden, of which he is a partner and managing director. Kukula is Deputy Board Member of the DEFA Foundation and head of the animation class at the Jugend & KunstSchule Dresden. He is a member and, since October 2015, deputy secretary of the Fine Arts and Film class of the Saxon Academy of the Arts .

Ralf Kukula lives and works in Dresden.
