Edmond de Schampheleer (born July 21, 1824 in Brussels , † March 12, 1899 in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode (now Brussels)) was a Belgian landscape painter and etcher .

Life

Schampheleer trained as a landscape painter at the academy in Brussels , traveled to France and Germany and then took up residence in Brussels. He received decisive stimuli in the Barbizon painters' colony . He mainly spent his holidays here. His landscapes, which mostly depict Dutch motifs, are distinguished by the delicacy of the clay and the fluid, painterly treatment. He was particularly successful in depicting calm watercourses and ponds.
