Abbot General Edmondo Bernardini

Edmondo Bernardini SOCist (born February 9, 1879 in Pisoniano , † January 11, 1955 in Rome ) was the 77th Abbot General of the Cistercian Order .

Born in Italy, Augusto Bernardini entered the Roman Cistercian monastery of Santa Croce in 1894 and took the religious name Edmondo. He was ordained a priest on August 10, 1901, and five days later he celebrated his primacy . He completed his studies with the doctorate to Dr. phil. from.

He was appointed prior of S. Maria dei Lumi on August 14, 1910 . On August 6, 1925, the Santa Croce convent elected him abbot and on August 16, 1925, the benediction took place. The election as Abbot General took place as a postal vote. On September 15, 1937 he was introduced to the office; he resigned on September 21, 1950.
