Franziskus Albert Janssens OCist (born February 20, 1881 in Tilburg , Netherlands , † April 23, 1950 in Hilversum , Netherlands) was the 76th Abbot General of the Cistercian Order .

He came from a family from which two bishops emerged: Franziskus Janssens (1888-1897 Archbishop of New Orleans ) and Arnoldus Frans Diepen (1919-1943 Bishop of 's-Hertogenbosch ).

Albert Janssen's religious life began in the years 1901–1903 in the Trappist Abbey of Achel . He moved to Onsenoort on August 15, 1903, where he was dressed as a novice of the General Observance for the Pont Colbert Abbey ( Versailles ) and was given the religious name Franz , which reminds of his archbishop's uncle. He was ordained a priest on December 17, 1910 in 's-Hertogenbosch; he initially worked as a theology professor. On October 2, 1924, his confreres elected him abbot of Pont Colbert. The blessing he received in Onsenoort by Bishop on October 28, 1924 Arnold Frans Diepen. He achieved the canonical elevation of Onsenoort to a priory in 1926.

On August 1, 1927, he was elected Abbot General by the General Chapter . Janssens appointed Father Tiburtius Hümpfner, Zircer, to be his secretary . The global economic crisis and other factors have cast a shadow over his great debt term. On February 15, 1935 Hubertus Noots became O.Praem. used as apostolic visitor for the Cistercian order. The visitation ended with Janssen's resignation on January 21, 1936.
