Edmund Johannes Lutz

Edmund Johannes Lutz SDB (born November 16, 1913 in Munich ; † January 18, 2004 in Munich) was a German Salesian of Don Bosco , author and publishing director.

Life

After his school days, philosophical and German studies, he entered the novitiate of the Salesians Don Bosco in the monastery of Ensdorf in 1933/34 and made his first profession on July 29, 1934 . In 1939 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht. The ordination could take place during a vacation on February 16, 1941. Back with the troops, he was partly at the front and partly in the medical service until February 1945.

Even as a student he was active in the youth movement, led a group of games for amateur games and founded the work group for celebration and play within the order. He was a member of the youth chaplaincy committee.

In 1945 he took over the religious literature. From 1946 to 1947 he was editor of the Munich Catholic Church Newspaper . He was the first publishing director of Don Bosco Verlag , founded in Munich in 1948 , the successor to the Salesianer Verlag, which had been banned in 1939.
