Edmund Richard Hamel (born June 26, 1890 in Chemnitz ; † October 5, 1983 in Romanshorn , reformed , since 1963 resident in Romanshorn) was a Swiss entrepreneur of German descent.

Edmund Richard Hamel, the son of the factory owner Hermann Hamel, was born in Chemnitz on June 26, 1890, and trained as a mechanical engineer from 1912 to 1914 . Hamel, who joined his father's spinning and twisting machine factory Carl Hamel AG near Chemnitz in 1919 , founded his own company in 1923, namely Carl Hamel spinning and twisting machines AG , in Arbon .

Since his factory in Switzerland had been confiscated as German property from 1945 to 1954 , Hamel was only able to take over management again in 1954. In 1958 he developed a successful twisting process . In 1988 Hamel AG finally became the property of the Saurer Group .

Edmund Richard Hamel, who married Maria Gertrud, the daughter of Wilhelm Posselt, in 1921, died on October 5, 1983 at the age of 94 in Romanshorn.
