Edmund Weitz

Edmund Weitz (born December 23, 1965 in Peine ) is a German mathematician , computer scientist and university professor . He is a professor at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences .

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Edmund Weitz studied mathematics and computer science at the University of Hanover from 1986 to 1992 . He has been a graduate mathematician since 1992. In 1996 he received his doctorate with a thesis on logic and set theory. Since 2011 he has been Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Faculty of Design, Media and Information (DMI) at the HAW Hamburg in the Department of Media Technology . Before that he worked for many years as an expert on Common Lisp for various companies in the USA, Great Britain, Norway, Denmark, Hong Kong and Germany. He is the author of several well-known open source libraries for Common Lisp such as CL-PPCRE, Hunchentoot and Drakma as well as the program The Regex Coach .

In 2015 he received the Hamburg Teaching Award from the Hamburg Science Authority, which is awarded for outstanding and innovative teaching achievements at Hamburg universities.
