Works in Basque

He often chooses Mundaka and the Basque coast as the theme and backdrop. He published six volumes of poetry under the name of Omar Nabarro. In 1990 he received the Gabriel Aresti Prize for his short story collection Atoiuntzia . Further prizes followed. Baleen berbaroa (1997, The Voice of the Whale) conceived Jimenez as the prelude to a trilogy . The novel describes the life of a seaman during the Renaissance. The second volume followed with Sukar ustelaren urtea (The Year of Typhus) in 2004, and Azeria eta lehoia was published in 2007 as the third and final volume.

While researching Hemingway eta euskaldunak zerbitzu sekretuetan (2003, Hemingway , the Basques and the Secret Services), the idea for Kilkerren hotsak (2003, The Noise of the Crickets) arose . The novel was published in Spanish and German in 2007: the Pahl-Rugenstein Verlag published it in the Zubiak - Basque Library series . It deals with the bombing of Gernika in the Spanish Civil War in 1936 by the German Condor Legion , which Hitler had sent to support the Franco Putschists, and the case of Bilbao . The Basque secret agent Uriarte worked for the cause of the Basque autonomy during this period. Many years later, he tells of the horrors of war, his love for Elena and encounters with Robert Capa , George Steer and other historical figures.
