Edouard Brother
Pierre Édouard Frère (born January 10, 1819 in Paris , † May 20, 1886 in Écouen , Département Seine-et-Oise ) was a French genre painter .
Life
He was the brother of Théodore Frère .
Frère entered the Paris École des Beaux-Arts in 1836 at the age of 17 and became a student of Paul Delaroche . He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1843 and soon gained an important reputation as a genre painter. His objects are mostly taken from country life and the life of the lower classes, especially the children's world, which he observed in all its goings-on and knew how to describe it with warmth, sensation and naivety.
He became a Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1855 and died in Ecouen in May 1886.
