The Edson Hills are a group of largely ice-free hills in the West Antarctic Heritage Range . The ridge extends in a north-south direction and is separated from the Soholt Peaks to the north by the Drake Icefall . The Union Glacier stretches to the west .
Elvers Peak in the south of the Edson Hills reaches a height of 1615 m and thus towers about 200 meters above the eternal ice that covers the surrounding landscape. In the middle of the group of hills lies Lester Peak , north of it the Hyde Glacier flows in an easterly direction to the Union Glacier.
The Edson Hills got their name from an expedition of the University of Minnesota in 1962/63 to the Ellsworth Mountains , which they named after Dean T. Edson, an engineering geographer and member of the expedition.
