Edu , real name Luís Eduardo Schmidt (born January 10, 1979 in Jaú ), is a Brazilian soccer player who plays at SC Internacional in the Brazilian soccer league . He also has an Italian passport. As his surname suggests, he also has German ancestors.

Player career

São Paulo

Edu's first club was São Paulo FC . There he was introduced to professional football and during this time he also came to play in the Brazilian national team .

Celta Vigo

In 2000 Edú made the leap to Europe. At Celta Vigo he became a regular player and even played in the Champions League . After the Galicians were relegated, he left the team in 2004 for Andalusia.

Betis Seville

Edú had his most successful time as a player to date with Betis Sevilla , with whom he played in the Champions League and the UEFA Cup , as well as winning the 2005 Copa del Rey .
