Eduard Altenburg (born November 16, 1894 in Bad Hersfeld , † December 29, 1943 ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ).

Live and act

After attending elementary school and a humanistic grammar school, Eduard Altenburg earned his living from 1910 to 1914 as a seaman in the merchant navy . In 1914 he was a member of the Spee transport steamer squadron. In 1914/1915 he traveled back to Germany from the west coast of South America via England. In 1915/1916 he was a member of the 1st Marine Division in Kiel and then from 1916 to 1918 of the 4th Sailor Regiment. In the First World War he was awarded the Iron Cross of both classes and promoted to lieutenant in the reserve.

In 1919 Altenburg was a member of the Baltic Landwehr and the Agricultural Working Group, in 1920 of the Loewenfeld Marine Brigade . From 1921 to 1933 Altenburg worked as a businessman.

In the NSDAP, Altenburg was active as the SA standard leader and leader of the SA naval standard.

From March 1936 until his death in 1943 in a Saxon military hospital, Altenburg was a member of the National Socialist Reichstag for constituency 30 (Chemnitz-Zwickau) .
