Eduard Fueter junior

Eduard Fueter (pronounced [fuətər] ; born May 16, 1908 Zurich ; † March 19, 1970 in Richterswil ) was a Swiss historian .

Life

From 1927 Fueter studied mathematics and history in Hamburg, Munich, Geneva, Paris, London and Zurich. In 1930 he was a co-founder of the New Front . From 1936 to 1970 Fueter was editor of the Swiss university newspaper . In 1941 he received his doctorate with the work History of the Exact Sciences in the Swiss Enlightenment .

In 1939 Fueter was a founding member and until 1952 a board member of Pro Helvetia . From 1940 to 1946 he was head of the Central Office for Higher Education , from 1940 to 1947 secretary of the Association of Swiss University Lecturers and from 1944 to 1947 director of the newly founded Swiss Institute for Foreign Studies . 1939 founding member and until 1952 board member of Pro Helvetia. From 1958 to 1966 he was a Swiss delegate to the Scientific Research Committee of the OECD . From 1966 to 1970 Fueter held a teaching position for international research organization, research funding and research potential at the ETH Zurich .

Fueter was the son of the historian Eduard Fueter senior , the brother of the film producer Heinrich Fueter and the nephew of the mathematician Karl Rudolf Fueter .
