Eduard Hahn (theologian)

Heinrich Gottfried Eduard Hahn (born May 6, 1824 in Hildesheim ; † February 19, 1901 there ) was a German Lutheran theologian, consistorial councilor and general superintendent of the Diocese of Hildesheim .

Life

Hahn, a son of the chancellery at the Landdrostei Georg Christian Hahn, attended the Sandvoss School and the Andreanum Grammar School in Hildesheim. After graduating from high school in 1841, he studied theology and philosophy in Göttingen and Halle . In April 1845 he passed the exam praevium. In 1845 he got a job as private tutor in Rethen (Leine) and in 1848 in Marienrode near Hildesheim. In October 1850 he was rector in Uslar , in 1862 second pastor (chaplain) in Pattensen , in 1869 superintendent in Bockenem , in 1872 briefly superintendent in Sehlde . In the same year he became city superintendent and pastor at St. Andreas in Hildesheim as well as general superintendent of the General Diocese of Hildesheim and member of the consistory in Hanover.

Hahn was chairman of the Gustav Adolf Association in Hildesheim. He was married to Emilie born in 1850. Perl (1817-1890). The son Albert Hahn (1858–1932), superintendent in Hildesheim, came from the marriage.
