Eduard Hauser (General)

Eduard Hauser (born June 22, 1895 in Erlangen , † July 17, 1961 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) was a German officer , most recently lieutenant general in World War II .

Life

Eduard Hauser joined the army on May 27, 1915 as a flagjunker and fought as a lieutenant in the Bavarian Infantry Regiment 17. After the war he joined the Reichswehr and served in the units of the 7th Division as a troop and staff officer. On February 1, 1930 he was promoted to captain and in 1933 transferred to Motor Vehicle Department 1. From October 15, 1935 he was employed as an adjutant of the 1st Panzer Brigade and was promoted to major here on November 1. On October 12, 1937, he was appointed commander of the 1st Division of the 10th Panzer Regiment. Promoted to lieutenant colonel on October 1, 1938, at the beginning of the war he was on the staff of the XIX. Army corps and took part in the Polish and Western campaigns. On November 9, 1940, he became the commander of the 18th Panzer Regiment and led it in Russia from June 1941. On August 19, 1941, he took over the 25th Panzer Regiment and was promoted to colonel on September 1, 1941. On September 1, 1943 he was commander of the 13th Panzer Division and on December 1, 1943 promoted to major general. At the end of December 1943 he had a serious accident south-east of Kirovograd and was then sent to the hospital for a long time. Promoted to Lieutenant General on June 1, 1944, on November 7, 1944, he took over the division command z. b. V. 605 and in March 1945 became the fortress commander of Pillau .
