Eduard Hoffmann (entrepreneur)

Eduard Hoffmann (born May 26, 1892 in Zurich ; † September 17, 1980 in Basel ) was a Swiss entrepreneur . He was the son of folklorist Eduard Hoffmann-Krayer .

Life

Eduard Hoffmann began studying technology and mechanical engineering after graduating from high school in 1911. Various study visits and internships took him to Zurich, Berlin and Munich. In 1917 he joined the Haas'sche Schriftgiesserei , which was run by his uncle Max Krayer . After 1937 Hoffmann was promoted to director with equal rights alongside his uncle. After his death in 1944 he took over the business.

Hoffmann was also involved in non-profit organizations such as the Association for Infant Care. He was an actuary of the Association for the Basel Historical Museum and a member of the Swiss Society for Folklore . He campaigned for the establishment of a printing trade museum and was one of the founders of the Basel Paper Mill Foundation .
