Eduard Klablena

Eduard Klablena (* 1881 in Bučany , Neutra county ; † 1933 in Langenzersdorf ) was a ceramist at the Wiener Werkstätte and later the Keramos .

life and work

Eduard Klablena was born in Bučany , Neutra County , (now Slovakia) in 1881 . In 1883 the family moved to Langenzersdorf. Klablena became a student in Karl Waschmann's studio. After studying at the Vienna School of Applied Arts , he worked in Austria and Germany. He was a member of the German Werkbund. In 1909/10 he created models for the Königliche Porzellanmanufaktur Berlin . In 1911 he returned to Austria forever and founded a workshop in Langenzersdorf. From 1911 he regularly took part in exhibitions at the MAK ( Museum of Applied Arts (Vienna) ), where he showed ceramic figures, people and animals.

Klablena created models for the Keramos company . Between 1912 and 1919, he delivered a total of 842 ceramic objects to the Wiener Werkstätte. The sacristy of the parish church of St. Katharina in Langenzersdorf was equipped with a stucco ceiling. Klablena died in 1933. His grave is in the local cemetery in Langenzersdorf.
