Eduard Mack

Eduard Mack (born September 6, 1918 in Alexanderhilf ; † October 8, 2011 ) was a German writer of Black Sea German origin who wrote books about his ethnic group in the Ukraine .

Life

After graduating from primary school in Alexanderhilf , he attended Großliebenthal secondary school from 1930 to 1934 . From 1935 to 1937 he studied at the German Pedagogical Institute in Odessa . From 1937 to 1941 Mack taught at the Freudenthal School, and from 1942 to 1944 at the Alexanderhilfer School. After moving to the Wartheland (1944), he was drafted into the German armed forces.

In May 1945 he was taken prisoner by the Soviets and sentenced to 10 years in a forced camp in the Northern Urals. After his release, he settled in Dusti , where his family was resettled. There he worked as chief accountant at the post office. In 1990 Mack came to Germany with his family and moved to Ravensburg .

In 1939 Mack married the teacher Ottilie Lutz. There are two daughters from the marriage.
