Eduard Moissejewitsch Schafranski

Eduard Moissejewitsch Schafranski , Russian Эдуард Моисеевич Шафра́нский , English transcription: Eduard Shafransky , (born October 16, 1937 in Krasnoyarsk ; † December 18, 2005 in Yekaterinburg ) was a Russian classical guitarist and composer .

Life

Eduard Schafranski studied classical guitar from 1961 to 1965 at the Tchaikovsky Academy of Music in Sverdlovsk (today: Yekaterinburg ), where he later founded the Renaissance early music ensemble and initiated the April Evenings Festival . In the last years of his life, Schafranski devoted himself to composing and created a number of works for guitar. In 2002 he met the internationally known Austrian guitarist Johanna Beisteiner , who performed several of his works for the first time, including the piece Caravaggio oggi for guitar solo, of which a video clip was also released on the Hungarian label Gramy Records .
