Eduard Schmidt (politician)
Eduard Schmidt (born October 4, 1887 in Prinzlaff , † August 23, 1955 in Stralsund ) was a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the Danzig People's Day from 1920 to 1938.
Schmidt was born the son of a worker. After attending elementary school, he worked as a shipyard worker without a professional qualification until he was drafted into the war in 1914. He was a soldier until 1918 and became a Russian prisoner of war. In 1919 he joined the USPD and was elected to the Danzig People's Day for it. From April to December 1920 he was party secretary of the USPD in Danzig, and from 1919 to 1923 he was a city councilor in Danzig . In January 1921 he joined the KPD and in June 1923 the SPD. He was a member of the People's Day until January 1938.
