Eduard Schneider , pseudonym: Edgar Schnitsler , Johann Esperschidt (born May 10, 1944 in Timișoara , Kingdom of Romania ) is a German specialist in German , Romanian and newspaper editor .

Life

Eduard Schneider graduated from the Nikolaus-Lenau-Lyzeum in Timișoara in 1962, after which he studied German and Romanian at the Western University of Timișoara until 1967 . He wrote his dissertation on " The expression of the thoughts and feelings of socialist people in the poetry of Oskar Pastiors , Christian Maurers and Astrid Connerth ". In 1969 he was appointed cultural editor of the Neue Banater Zeitung ; from 1979 he headed their features section .

In April 1989, Schneider sat on the road to Gera to a visit to the GDR -Partnerzeitung Volkswacht of Hungary into the Federal Republic of Germany from. Since 1992 he has been a research assistant at the Institute for German Culture and History of Southeast Europe at the LMU Munich and since 2006 has been responsible as editor of the institute's magazine "Spiegelungen".

Eduard Schneider wrote numerous essays and reviews on German, Romanian-German and Romanian literature and also appeared as an editor of text collections and anthologies such as verbatim.
