Eduard Sussmann

Eduard August Sussmann (* 1896 in Hamburg ; † December 11, 1965 ) was a German FDP politician.

Political activity

Sussmann was politically active in the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.

Political activity in the time of National Socialism

During the Nazi era , Sussmann belonged to Group Q , which was organized by Friedrich Ablass and later became the Free Hamburg group , which provided assistance to the persecuted.

Political activity after 1945

After the end of National Socialism, Sussmann became a founding member of the Free Democrats Party (PFD), which was founded on September 20, 1945 in Hamburg. Just like Friedrich Ablass, Emilie Kiep-Altenloh , Johannes Büll , Christian Koch and Eduard Wilkening , he was a member of the party executive.

Member of parliament from 1953–1965

Sussmann was one of the editorial board members of the monthly Der Hanseat , which was founded by the CDU in 1952. This served the Hamburg-block in 1953 as a publication for the Citizenship and federal election campaign .

As a member of the FDP, Sussmann was a member of the Hamburg parliament for twelve years ; from 1953 until his death in 1965.

For a time he held the position of group manager.
