Auguste Ludwig
Auguste Ludwig , also Augusta Ludwig (born February 26, 1834 in Graefenthal , Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen , † July 27, 1909 in Berlin ), was a German genre and portrait painter from the Düsseldorf School .
Life
Ludwig, the sister of the painter Karl Ludwig and the writer Julie Ludwig (1832-1894) and a cousin of the writer Otto Ludwig , initially studied painting with Friedrich Martersteig in Weimar . She then continued her training with Julius Scholtz in Dresden . Around 1880 she settled in Düsseldorf. There she took lessons from Rudolf Jordan and Gustav Stever . At times she lived and worked in Berlin , where she had last settled.
