Eduard Tschunkur

Eduard Tschunkur (born October 21, 1874 in Livonia ; † 1946 ) was a German industrial chemist at IG Farben in Leverkusen who dealt with synthetic rubber .

Tschunkur attended the Polytechnic in Riga . Together with Walter Bock, he developed styrene-butadiene rubber (Buna S, 1929 through emulsion polymerization of butadiene with styrene ) and with Erich Konrad (chemist) and Helmut Kleiner from IG Farben, nitrile rubber (Buna N) (around 1930).
