Eduardas Vilkas

Eduardas Vilkas (born October 3, 1935 in Gargždai , † May 19, 2008 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian mathematician and politician.

Life

In 1953 Vilkas graduated from the Teachers' Institute in Klaipėda and in 1958 studied mathematics at the Vilniaus universitetas . In 1963 he received his doctorate and in 1973 his habilitation in game theory . From 1976 Vilkas was a professor and from 1986 a member of the Lietuvos mokslų akademija . From 1958 to 1985 he worked at the Institute for Physics and Mathematics at the Lietuvos mokslų akademija , from 1985 director of the Economic Institute . From 1959 he was a communist and a member of the CPSU , People's Deputat in the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union . From 1990 to 1992 he was a Seimas member and then worked as a government advisor.

From 2005 he is an honorary citizen of Gargždai.
