The Klaipėda Pedagogical Institute ( Klaipėdos pedagoginis institutas ) was a Lithuanian pedagogical college from 1935 to 1939 in Klaipėda . It was located in the house of the teachers' college, now the Faculty of Education of the Klaipėdos universitetas .

history

From 1935 the school prepared the primary school teachers. The course lasted four semesters (2 years). It was free, and some of the students received scholarships . There was a library at the institute (10,000 books). The dormitory was in Giruliai . There were 140 students in 1935 and 443 graduates from 1937 to 1940. The institute was relocated to Panevėžys and in November 1939 to Vilnius , and in 1944 it became the Vilniaus pedagoginis institutas (from 1992 Vilniaus pedagoginis universitetas , now the Vytautas Magnus University Educational Academy ).
